“Laundered” about 1 million UAH for the renovation of a hospital: an entrepreneur will be tried in Transcarpathia

In Transcarpathia, the director of a limited liability company will be tried for illegally seizing funds from the local budget for the renovation of a hospital.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

“Prosecutors of the Uzhgorod District Prosecutor's Office of the Transcarpathian region sent to the court an indictment against the director of a limited liability company on the facts of taking someone else's property, legalization of property obtained by criminal means, as well as official forgery (part 4 of article 191, part 1 of article 209 , Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the department notes.

Thus, according to the investigation, in the Transcarpathian city of Perechyn, a contractor illegally seized funds from the local budget for the renovation of a hospital, causing damage of almost 756 thousand UAH.

The prosecutor's office notes that the LLC was supposed to reconstruct one of the buildings of the medical institution, replace windows in another and carry out a major overhaul of the heating system. However, the accused falsified construction documentation: he deliberately entered false data on the volume and cost of work performed. Subsequently, it turned out that some of them were either not carried out at all or were carried out in violation of building codes.

“Subsequently, the head of the company made a number of financial transactions to launder illegally obtained funds. In particular, he transferred them to deposit accounts, and also paid individual entrepreneurs for work allegedly carried out at the facilities, although the entrepreneur did not provide any services,” law enforcement officers say.
