Pavel Durov: Telegram will have an application store and a built-in browser

By the end of July 2024, the Telegram team will present a “mini-application” store and a built-in browser. This was announced by the owner of the company Pavel Durov.

The entrepreneur noted that 2024 will go down in history as the period when hundreds of millions of people first became acquainted with the blockchain. According to him, the Telegram company found itself at the epicenter of the transformation of society.

To support further development, the developers intend to expand the functionality of Telegram with an application store and a built-in browser with support for Web3 pages.

In addition, the team has stepped up efforts to combat crypto scammers. The messenger will display the date and country of registration of public accounts, similar to Instagram.

Let us remind you that earlier the Binance crypto exchange warned about an increase in cases of cryptocurrency fraud in the popular messenger. The company has issued recommendations for Telegram users aimed at improving overall security and protecting funds.

“We will allow organizations to use their widgets to issue channel labels. The initiative will create a decentralized market for third-party verification,” Durov wrote.

The entrepreneur emphasized the desire for transparency and decentralization of the service. It is critical that users of the messaging app learn more about the opportunities and risks of “this new world,” Durov added.

In June 2024, the founder of Telegram announced the launch of a new payment system in the messenger - Telegram Stars. It is expected that it will be used to pay for services in “mini-applications”.

Another innovation was the tokenization of stickers and emoji in Telegram. According to Durov, their owners will receive 95% of the income from the sale.
