The SBU and the National Police stopped the activities of an international criminal group that illegally transported citizens of military age across the border in ambulances.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service.
Members of this group used ambulances with medical crews to secretly transport drug dodgers through Odessa region highways, bypassing checkpoints.
Arriving at the “green corridor”, another person from the group transported them to a neighboring country along forest paths.
After a set of measures, law enforcement officers stopped an ambulance that was transporting two draft dodgers to the border.
The organizers of the criminal group turned out to be two foreign citizens with temporary residence permits in Ukraine and Odessa residents.
For the fee they received, they provided “assistance” to potential conscripts in avoiding mobilization and illegally crossing the border. The cost of such services ranged from 4.8 thousand US dollars for each client.
During the searches, bank cards and mobile phones with evidence of illegal activity, as well as money obtained illegally, were seized.
All organizers of the criminal group were informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine), they are in custody. They face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The issue of qualification of the actions of the ambulance medical crew involved in illegal activities is also being resolved.
