The sale of Russian “captured” weapons and explosives was planned: two intermediaries were detained by the Security Service of Ukraine

As a result of large-scale operations, two individuals were detained who were attempting to sell an arsenal of military weapons to the criminal world.

The Security Service, together with the National Police, eliminated two more channels for the illegal sale of weapons and ammunition in the Rivne and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

This was reported by the press service of the SBU.

During complex measures, two businessmen were detained who were trying to sell an arsenal of military weapons to criminals.

Among those seized were a detonating cord with explosives, anti-tank weapons, live grenades and Russian-made Kalashnikov assault rifles.

Thus, in the Rivne region: a dealer in “trophy” weapons was detained, which he received through his own connections from the sites of former battles in the liberated areas in the east and south of Ukraine.

He stored the received samples of Russian weapons at his place of residence, and delivered the “goods” to potential buyers in his own car.

During the search the following was confiscated from the detainee:

  • Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle;
  • 4 grenades of type F-1, RGO and RGN;
  • more than half a thousand rounds of ammunition for small arms of various calibers.

The entry of weapons into illegal circulation could lead to an aggravation of the crime situation and a deterioration of the internal political situation near the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

In the Carpathian region: another person involved has been exposed - a resident of Kolomyia, who tried to sell three AK-74 assault rifles and a Stechkin pistol with cartridges to criminals.

In addition, during the searches, about 50 m of detonating cord with explosives, military grenades, silencers for small arms and armor-piercing ammunition were found on the attacker.

He kept the entire arsenal in a cache, which he arranged in an unfinished building near the private house of one of his relatives. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). They are in custody.

Investigations into the exposed facts are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice. The perpetrators face up to 7 years in prison.
