Poland has begun fortification work on the border with Belarus - Prime Minister Tusk

The Polish authorities began building fortifications and strengthening the border with Belarus. This was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, quoted by TVP Info.

“Poland has begun intensive work on modern fortifications, these fortifications in many dimensions will be built along the entire Polish border from the east,” the politician said.

Tusk did not specify what kind of work was being carried out, but stressed that the EU could join in financing it.

“This is not only the internal border of Poland, but also the border of the EU. Therefore, I have no doubt that the whole of Europe will have to - and I know that we will achieve this - invest in its security by investing in the eastern border of Poland and in the security of our border,” he emphasized.

Also, as was previously known, Poland plans to strengthen its territory near the borders with the Russian Federation and Belarus and build bunkers here.

This was stated by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh, the Correspondent reports with reference to Radio ZET.

This is how the minister responded to a journalist’s question whether Poland should build bunkers, dig ditches and trenches on the border with Belarus and Russia. He said that the Polish leadership is preparing a plan to build bunkers and dig trenches.

In fact, Poland is already strengthening its border, the Polish official added.

“We are repairing and strengthening the dam, and there is a military group in Podlasie Voivodeship. Lublin, Masovian, Warmian-Masurian voivodeships, the presence of an army, the presence of allied troops,” summarized Kosiniak-Kamysh.
