Poland is ready to close the skies over Ukraine: what does the new security agreement mean?

Let's figure it out.

Against the backdrop of the latest tragic events, we are undeservedly talking little about the security agreement between Ukraine and Poland.

And it contains one very important point that directly concerns our security.

The document stipulates that Polish air defense can intercept missiles and drones in Ukrainian airspace fired in the direction of Poland.

Of course, there is a note in the agreement that a detailed algorithm will be developed after consultation of the Poles with NATO countries.

But in my opinion, this thesis is nothing more than a “diplomatic nod” - the political decision has been made.

The consequences of this decision are difficult to overestimate.

• Firstly, if the “security umbrella” begins to operate, this will make it possible to “unload” our air defense in the west of the country.
• Secondly, Romania may make a similar decision in the future.

This means we will be able to additionally protect the south of the country.

The Poles have demonstrated that, despite disagreements in the past, they clearly understand that an independent Poland is impossible without a strong Ukraine.

And this is their geopolitical choice.

Therefore, we thank our allies and expect strong decisions in Washington.

Personally, I'm waiting for two things:

• permission to attack airfields;
• clear dates when Ukraine can become a member of the Alliance.

My sources report that it is around these two issues that the biggest discussions are taking place.
