Popular blogger Miroslav Oleshko received suspicion from the SBU

Blogger Miroslav Oleshko was suspected of two articles of the Criminal Code. According to investigators, he illegally left Ukraine during the full-scale invasion and is now encouraging men to hide from the draft.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine. The information appeared on the department’s Telegram page.

“He illegally left Ukraine during a full-scale invasion and is engaged in information and subversive activities that harm the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the department said.

According to the case materials, Oleshko, after confirming his fitness for military service and being called to the TCC, left the territory of Ukraine in August 2023 on the basis of a forged certificate from the military medical commission.

The SBU noted that, while abroad, he systematically publishes videos and posts in which he discredits conscription into military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and calls on Ukrainians to evade military service.

The department reported that the blogger was notified in absentia of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 1 art. 114-1 (obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations);
  • Part 4 art. 358 (use of a deliberately forged document).

Sanctions under the articles provide for up to 8 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing under the procedural control of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
