After a discussion with Prime Minister Shmygal, a representative of the Slovak government rejected Ukraine's request for the supply of weapons

Robert Fico, Prime Minister of Slovakia, rejected Ukraine's request for arms supplies and expressed his lack of confidence in a military solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Robert Fico announced this on Facebook following a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal.

"1. Excluded the supply of weapons and ammunition from military and government warehouses.

2. We do not believe in a military solution to the conflict in Ukraine, because it only leads to unnecessary, futile bloodshed.

3. Our national interests sometimes do not coincide with the interests of Ukraine, so I confirmed that we will continue to ban the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into Slovak territory, because otherwise we will go against our own farmers.

4. Slovakia supports the European perspective of Ukraine and Moldova, but together with the countries of the Western Balkans,” Fico said.
