The President of Lithuania said that fighting in Ukraine will continue until one of the parties loses strength

The military confrontation in Ukraine will take on the character of a positional and exhausting war. Its duration will depend on who gets tired first.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda in a Delfi commentary.

“Now we will return to the status quo, it (the war - ed.) will again become positional, debilitating. Then the losses of both sides will be counted and finally they will wait until one of the countries reaches the point where it can no longer continue the war,” he said.

At the same time, Nauseda believes that Russia will try to seize the initiative, and Ukraine will resist this as much as possible. Although he is confident that if the Russians break through the front, Ukraine will not lose the war.

“Russia, of course, can mobilize resources without taking into account the opinion of its own people, both mobilize people and direct everything to military purposes. The capabilities of other states are more limited, simply because they are democratic societies. All these are factors, but I repeat once again - we are not talking about the defeat of Ukraine, we are talking about a war scenario that is unfavorable for Ukraine,” the President of Lithuania emphasized.

According to Nauseda, Moscow can demonstrate that it is supposedly ready for negotiations, although these are only “tactical ploys.”

The Lithuanian leader stressed that only Ukraine will decide when to start negotiations with Russia.

Help from Lithuania

It is worth noting that the Baltic countries - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - have supported Ukraine since the first days of a full-scale war. The Baltic countries provided military, financial and humanitarian assistance, and also accepted tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine.

Let us recall that Lithuania acquired two NASAMS air defense missile launchers for Ukraine, which will help strengthen our country’s air defense. In November, Lithuania announced the transfer of NASAMS launchers , necessary equipment, as well as off-road vehicles for the crew to Ukraine.

Later, on November 24, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal announced that the NASAMS transferred by Lithuania were already on combat duty.
