The attacks may cause temporary power outages in Ukraine, but their duration will be temporary.
“The only threat to a systemic failure in the power grid is attacks from the Russians. But even if there is a critical impact as a result of attacks on the energy system, blackouts will be temporary,” said German Galushchenko.
He noted that there is now an increase in electricity consumption, even compared to the same period in 2021. Considering the situation, power engineers are asking consumers to consume electricity sparingly.
“It is important that people understand: we are at war. Therefore, it is necessary to use electricity sparingly, especially during peak hours.”
“There were no planned outages. Those settlements that were suffering due to destruction as a result of hostilities were temporarily without electricity.
At the same time, due to the loss of generations, cooling and increased consumption, we observe a deficit of about 1% of consumption on certain days.”
Galushchenko said that the Russians would launch massive missile attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure when air temperatures remained below zero for a long time.
