Balancer protocol hacked for almost $900,000 after vulnerability warning

The Balancer protocol was hacked by a hacker a few days after a vulnerability was discovered in one of the pools. As a result of the exploit, the attackers took possession of assets worth almost $900,000.

An Ethereum address believed to belong to a hacker was discovered by security expert Meyer Dolev. According to him, after the exploit he received two transactions worth $636,812 and $257,527 in the DAI stablecoin. The total wallet balance exceeded $893,000.

“Balancer is aware of the breach associated with the vulnerability. We have taken measures that have significantly reduced the risks. To prevent further exploits, users should withdraw liquidity from problematic pools,” the protocol team wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Last week, Balancer developers identified a critical bug in the V2 pool. The team said it took care to protect the assets locked in the protocol, but recommended that clients withdraw funds or send them to other pools. Despite warnings and security measures taken, it was not possible to protect the pool from hacking.
