More than 200 MW of the capacity of green electricity producers not included in the DTEK energy holding has transferred to the balancing group (BG) “D.Trading”; by the end of the year, the trader intends to add another 800 MW, said the company’s general director Dmitry Malyar.
“We now have more than 200 MW of green generation, which is not part of the DTEK group, and we have plans to expand this portfolio to 1000 MW by the end of the year. We conduct negotiations, have the appropriate level of qualifications, and have the ability to provide service. Market participants trust us,” Malyar said in a comment to Energoreform on the sidelines of the Ukrainian Gas Open 2023 forum “Production. Transportation. Storage. Sale".
He clarified that the trading company received these 200 MW of power over the past month and a half, and regulatory innovations on the entry and exit of renewable energy generation from the Guaranteed Buyer State Enterprise played a significant role in this.
“We see that producers of green electricity have begun to evaluate alternatives and have begun to compare not only financial capabilities, but also the level of stability and trust,” noted Malyar.
As reported, on April 25 of this year, the National Commission that carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities (NEURC) determined the procedure for the entry and exit of electric power facilities that have a feed-in tariff (GT) from the balancing group (BG) of the Guaranteed Buyer State Enterprise " Producers from renewable energy sources received a market alternative to the “green” tariff and at the same time retained the opportunity to return to the GarPoka BG with the resumption of sales of the produced resource under the LT.
At the end of July, the state energy trader JSC Energy Company of Ukraine (JSC ECU) announced that it had entered into the first agreements with energy producers from renewable energy sources regarding the provision of balancing services and guaranteed repurchase of electricity; the first payments began in July.
According to data on the GarPoka website, in January 2023 the level of settlements with renewable energy generation reached 91%, in February - 57.9%, in March - 51%, in April - 58.8%, in May - 46.5% , June - 44.4%, for 20 days of July - 43.3%. Overall - 52%.
