The head of a service center in the Dnepropetrovsk region was found to have signs of acquiring unjustified assets worth UAH 7 million
The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense of the Eastern Region, NAPC and SAPO are working together on the case.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has identified signs of the acquisition of unjustified assets from the head of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Dnepropetrovsk region for UAH 7 million, the NAPC press service reports.
Experts found this out during monitoring of the official’s lifestyle, when they found UAH 4.9 million in cash and a Škoda Kodiaq car worth more than UAH 2 million.
We became interested in the NAPC by the head of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs because of the pre-trial investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Eastern Region in criminal proceedings on the fact of extortion and receipt of unlawful benefits by an employee of the territorial service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The employee argued in his explanations that part of the cash in the amount of $90 thousand, which was seized from him during the search, was lent to him by third parties. However, the NACP found that the borrowers did not have sufficient funds for this from legal sources. In addition, NACP found out that the Škoda car, which was owned by the son of a service center employee at the end of 2023, was purchased by him on behalf of his father. Such actions indicate intentions to hide the purchase of a car.
NAPC transferred the materials regarding the TSC official to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, and she has already filed a claim with the High Anti-Corruption Court to recognize the assets as unfounded and to recover them for the state.
