SBU eliminated new draft evasion schemes

The security service has also exposed schemes to evade mobilization.

The Security Service has exposed five more schemes for evading mobilization and illegal travel abroad of citizens of military age, the Security Service of Ukraine reports.

So, in the Ternopil region:

military counterintelligence officers of the SBU detained an official of the regional military registration and enlistment office, who offered draft dodgers to “opt out” from mobilization by joining one of the local higher educational institutions.

To implement the scheme, the defendant promised his clients to connect his own connections in educational institutions. He estimated the cost of such a service from 2 thousand US dollars per person liable for military service.

In Ivano-Frankivsk region:

two residents of the region were exposed who, for money, transported draft dodgers to the EU on ATVs through the so-called “green zone” of the Carpathian forests.

In Rivne region:

a corruption scheme for potential conscripts leaving our state as managers of one of the Ukrainian agricultural holdings was blocked. The formal reason for foreign business trips was to resolve issues with foreign business partners regarding the supply of grain products abroad.

In the Transcarpathian region:

Two residents of the Uzhgorod region were detained, who, for a monetary reward, “suggested” forest paths to evaders for covert border crossing.

In Nikolaev:

Suspicion was reported to a local resident who tried to bribe a senior officer of the military registration and enlistment office in order to avoid mobilization. However, the Ukrainian military immediately reported to his superiors about the “offer” received, which made it possible to document the criminal actions of the person involved and detain him. Investigations into all exposed facts continue to bring the perpetrators to justice. The perpetrators face up to 9 years in prison. Complex activities were carried out jointly with the National Police and the State Border Service under the procedural leadership of the prosecutor's office.
