Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained the head of one of the departments of the Khmelnitsky City Council, who, according to their version, worked for the FSB. He faces life imprisonment
According to their information, at the direction of the Russians, the official collected information about the deployment points and places of residence of Ukrainian military personnel in the region.
“The enemy was most interested in intelligence information about the units of the SBU and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The defendant also tried to identify the addresses of production of Ukrainian drones that were sent to the front line,” the report says.
According to reports, the Russians planned to use this information to prepare missile attacks, as well as possible sabotage and terrorist attacks.
“The security service caught the official red-handed when he tried to transfer intelligence information to the aggressor right from his office,” the report says.
As the investigation established, the defendant came to the attention of the FSB while studying at the Bauman Moscow Technical University in the 90s.
After the start of a full-scale invasion, a career FSB officer contacted him and involved the official in reconnaissance and explosive activities against Ukraine. They maintained communication through anonymous chats in instant messengers.
Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law). He is currently in custody. The attacker faces life imprisonment.
