In the spotlight

The scandalous ex-director of the Kharkiv forestry enterprise was put on the international wanted list

The former director of the state Gutyansky forestry of the Kharkov region, Viktor Sisa, illegally took possession of 50 million UAH. The court released the official on bail of UAH 5 million, and he fled abroad.

It became known that Victor Sisa and the heads of the companies under his control organized a scheme to sell wood at reduced prices.

“Part of these funds were legalized by individuals during 2018-2019 through the accounts of fake individual entrepreneurs under the guise of providing financial assistance,” the report says.

In February last year, VAKS found Sisa guilty of attempting to bribe a NABU detective and sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison with confiscation of property.

During the appeal, the court decided not to keep the official behind bars and chose a preventive measure of almost 5,000,000 ₴, which he successfully contributed from the stolen money.

After this, in August it turned out that Sisa had fled abroad.

The HACC Appeals Chamber has put Viktor Sysu on the wanted list. The deposit was confiscated and thus the official disappeared, “paying back” 10% of what he stole from the state.

Let us recall that on July 17, 2019, Vladimir Zelensky made a working trip to the Kharkov region for the first time after being elected president and held a meeting on stopping illegal logging.

During the meeting, Zelensky called “on the carpet” the then head of the state “Gutyansky forestry enterprise” Viktor Sisu, who was accused of “black logging” and allegedly urgently went on a business trip to Kyiv. After that, law enforcement agencies took it seriously.
