Served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and aimed missiles at his own

Military counterintelligence of the Security Service detained an FSB informant who provided information to correct Russian missile and drone strikes in Donbass. This person was identified as a contract soldier of one of the combat brigades of the Defense Forces located in the east of the country.

The attacker transmitted the coordinates of firing positions and military fortifications to the Russian special service. The main objects of interest were the geolocations of the greatest concentration of personnel and the location of heavy weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including tanks and cannon artillery.

To disguise his activities, the informant worked for the FSB through his father, who left for the Russian Federation in August 2023. To get to Russia, he, as a man with many children, crossed the border in the direction of the European Union, and from there crossed into the aggressor country.

The invaders used intelligence information to prepare targeted air attacks on Ukrainian troop locations.

During a search at the detainee’s location, a mobile phone was discovered, which he used to record the coordinates and available weapons of the Defense Forces and send “reports” to the FSB.

The attacker is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison. In addition, the issue of notifying the father of the detainee of suspicion in absentia and bringing him to justice for crimes against Ukraine is being considered.

The special operation was carried out under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Defense of the Eastern Region.
