They were going to sell Russian sniper weapons and grenade launchers to criminals: the SBU detained “black gunsmiths”

They wanted to sell Russian sniper weapons and grenade launchers to criminals.

SBU officers managed to detain three more organizers of illegal businesses in Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv and Transcarpathian regions.

The press service of the SBU reports this.

According to law enforcement officials, the detainees tried to sell weapons and ammunition found after the de-occupation of the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine to criminals. It is noteworthy that among the items seized were a Russian tank machine gun, sniper weapons, grenade launchers and explosives.

In the Nikolaev region:

SBU officers exposed a local resident who had set up a hiding place in a warehouse on the territory of a garage cooperative. There he brought weapons and ammunition from the sites of former battles in the region.

In Vinnytsia region:

Law enforcement officers also detained a defendant who prepared “trophy” weapons and ammunition for sale for a total amount of UAH 3 million.

“It was established that the attacker bought damaged samples of weapons through specialized Internet platforms, and then restored their combat properties and looked for clients for sale,” law enforcement officers note.

The SBU notes that it was documented how the detainee tried to sell an enemy AK-12 and a Dragunov sniper rifle for almost 300 thousand UAH.

In Transcarpathia:

The SBU report states that law enforcement officers managed to detain the head of a local public organization, who kept Degtyarev’s light machine gun with cartridges in the car of an acquaintance.

In addition, the man was probably also involved in the theft of volunteer funds, which he allegedly previously collected for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Law enforcement officials say that they are considering the theory that the detainee staged an attempt on himself and the robbery of his own office in order to hide the “traces” of the crime.

“Currently, the detainees have been informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They are in custody. The perpetrators face up to 7 years in prison. All seized weapons are planned to be transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” law enforcement officers say.
