Solana Pay integrates with Shopify to accept Web3 Payments in USDC

Solana Pay today announced that it is now available as an app integration on the Shopify e-commerce platform. The integration will allow merchants to accept payments in USDC and offer on-chain loyalty programs.

The plugin, powered by the Solana blockchain, offers a free payment system, proving its ability to perform instant transactions with minimal fees. The blockchain platform retains the ability to process up to 60,000 transactions per second while remaining carbon neutral.

Solana Pay's merchant-to-consumer direct payment system aims to eliminate intermediaries, allowing businesses to avoid excessive transaction costs and retain more of their revenue.

Beyond transactional benefits, Solana Pay emphasizes sustainability. The Solana blockchain is known for its energy efficiency. According to Solana's April 2023 Energy Consumption Report, a single blockchain transaction consumes the energy equivalent of just two Google searches, aligning with the growing demand for environmentally conscious blockchain practices.

Easy to integrate SDK for payments

Solana Pay can be integrated into existing business structures. The platform claims that developers can easily install their software development kit (SDK) in minutes.

For merchants looking to connect Solana Pay to Shopify, the process is simple. They can visit the Shopify Solana Pay app install link in the Shopify app store, click the Add App button, and set up their Solana Pay portal.

The ordering process for customers is simple. They can select Solana Pay as their payment method, link their crypto wallet, and confirm the transaction.

Solana announced that renowned blockchain projects such as MonkeDAO, Mad Lads NFT, and Helius Labs have integrated Solana Pay into their Shopify-based storefronts from the very beginning.

Solana Pay, introduced by the Solana Foundation in February 2022, envisions a future in which digital currencies are widely accepted and easily moved across the Internet without intermediaries charging transaction fees.

“It’s important to note that this is more than just giving consumers the ability to “pay with cryptocurrency.” Rather, it is about a vision in which all currencies, including US dollars, will be linked to a chain and used for a wide range of transactions,” the Solana Foundation wrote in its report. blog.

The integration of Solana Pay into Shopify is another demonstration of the practical use of blockchain technology in the e-commerce arena.

Shopify was one of the first to implement Web3 technologies. Last year, the platform launched a token-based trading solution that allows merchants to give NFT owners exclusive access to goods, experiences and more.
