In Kyiv, it is planned to carry out planned repairs of the metro section from the Taras Shevchenko station to Pochaina. It is noted that there will be no more emergency closures or unscheduled repairs, as on the section from Demeevskaya to Teremki.
Viktor Braginsky, director of the Kyiv Metro, said this in an interview with OBOZ.UA.
“There are areas that require special attention. There is a section from the Taras Shevchenko station to the Pochayna station. This is an experimental tunnel built back in the 80s. It has certain features. This tunnel changes dimensions: that is, it becomes somewhat ellipsoidal in shape. But there is no danger for passengers. We planned to establish a ground connection next summer and close this section for repair work. Repairs are a normal situation, they are carried out in all countries where there is a metro,” he said.
At the same time, repairs are a common situation for subways in any country. The situation that arose in the section from Demeevskaya to Teremki was extraordinary and should not be repeated.
“We have a section from Slavutich to Krasny Khutor, it is also located in water-saturated soils, we periodically carry out waterproofing work there and eliminate currents. But there are no such difficult hydrogeological conditions as on the stretch between Demeevskaya and Teremki,” he explained.
By the way, problems with the closed section of the Kyiv metro from Teremki to Demeevskaya began during the construction stage. The first crack appeared only three months after these stations were put into operation back in March 2011. And in November 2023, large cracks began to appear in the tunnels, which could no longer be repaired with normal repairs.
