Should we expect quick results from the counteroffensive in the south: Ministry of Defense forecast

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue the offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions of the front, but one should not expect immediate action from them

Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar stated this on air at the national telethon.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions. The enemy in the southern direction was well fortified with mines and concrete. They are bringing their professional units, paratroopers and equipment there. Fierce fighting is taking place. But our military is very effective in destroying this equipment,” she said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, last week the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 18 enemy tanks, 29 armored combat vehicles, artillery systems, mortars, a helicopter, special equipment and air defense systems in the southern direction.

“That is, the enemy in the southern direction cannot fully defend itself. Our Armed Forces are powerfully weakening it in order to move forward,” the official noted.

However, she added, there could be no quick action here, because powerful forces collided in the duel - the enemy should not be underestimated.

“They have an advantage in the air, in weapons, and in the number of personnel. However, the Ukrainian military is conducting powerful offensive and defensive actions,” says Anna Malyar.
