The bill also mentions the mobilization of teaching staff of educational institutions
Ukraine was immediately rocked by several news regarding mobilization - from the streamlining of “controversial” articles for determining limited suitability in the military medical commission to the search for those who took advantage of the “loophole” due to higher education to avoid service.
The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lesovoy explained who should not be nervous about the expected changes in legislation. The head noted that they will concern not only students, but also teachers.
Lesovoy shared statistics on the growth of more than 55 thousand male students in the 25+ category last year compared to 2021. Of these, more than 33 thousand entered the “master” level.
The bill proposes to maintain the deferment for male students under 30 years of age who are still pursuing a consistent education. The second category is teachers in educational institutions with a job of at least 0.75 wages.
Deferments are offered to men over 30 years of age entering educational institutions and receiving inconsistent higher education. Lesovoy also recalled that the right to education is constitutional, but protecting Ukraine is the responsibility of citizens.
