The court released the potential "supervisor" of Odessa

Babek Damir-ogly Hasanov was convicted of murdering 28-year-old Ukrainian boxer Sergei Lashchenko and is suspected of kidnapping and extortion.

The leader of the ethnic gang, Babek Hasanov, who was convicted, among other things, for the murder of boxer Sergei Lashchenko, was released from the pre-trial detention center on Tuesday, May 14.

The release of one of the leaders of organized crime in Odessa, “Dumskaya,” was reported by sources in the prosecutor’s office.

34-year-old Azerbaijani citizen Babek Damir-ogly Hasanov was convicted in 2022 for the murder of 28-year-old Ukrainian boxer Sergei Lashchenko. A gunman shot and killed the athlete in 2015. However, in 2022, Hasanov was released under the Savchenko law. Of the 14 years to which the court sentenced him, he served only 7. Literally a month after his release, Babek Hasanov was again detained for extortion and kidnapping. But this did not stop the defendant - even from behind bars, he again organized the theft of the entrepreneur. Members of Hasanov’s gang tortured an Odessa resident, extorting three thousand dollars of a non-existent debt. The gang was detained, and several more suspicions were announced to Gasanov right in the pre-trial detention center.

It is not yet known to the editors what grounds the court used to set the bandit free.

However, the fact of Hasanov’s release means that the crime situation in Odessa may worsen. After all, Babek Damir-ogly Hasanov, nicknamed Babush, is not an ordinary repeat offender. Even before the start of the war, he ended up in the retinue of those close to thief in law Namik Bakinsky and received the status (suit - in prison jargon) of a tramp. In fact, this is the title of a candidate for “thieves in law,” which means Hasanov will try to organize a criminal group again. And he will apply for the “position” of “supervisor” in Odessa in order to control the criminality of the city and region.

Since the beginning of the war, Odessa has been left without a “watcher” from the thieves - the most influential “crime bosses” hastened to go abroad in February 2022.

In addition to suspicions of kidnapping and extortion, the criminal leader received another one in April 2023 - establishing criminal influence (Article 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to this article alone, Babush faced seven to ten years in prison.
