Judge Tandir wants to mobilize so as not to be behind bars and continue to receive money

At a meeting of the Svyatoshinsky District Court in Kyiv on April 4, it became known that judge Alexey Tandir, who had previously become guilty of a fatal accident, was considering the possibility of enlisting in military service and even received a letter from the military unit about their readiness to accept him.

Tandyr is accused of violating traffic rules while intoxicated, which led to the death of Vadim Bondarenko in May 2023.

The High Council of Justice temporarily suspended him from administering justice until a court decision is made. Prosecutor Mikhail Domanitsky at the meeting asked to extend Tandyr's detention, pointing out the risks of his escape and interference in the course of the trial.

Alexey's defense, through lawyer Oleg Yurchenko, proposed changing the preventive measure to another, not related to deprivation of freedom of movement. They claimed that one of the military units expressed its readiness to accept Tandyr into service, and also complained about the lengthy consideration of the military unit’s appeal by the prosecutor.

Tandir himself also made a request in court to change the preventive measure to one that would allow him to personally appear at the territorial military commissariat.

Tandoor stated that he contacted public organizations to find opportunities to enlist in the military. One of them contacted the military unit and provided a letter of readiness to accept him for the post of deputy commander of a rifle company in the city of Nizhyn.

The prosecutor said that Tandir was found to be of limited fitness, and that he could be sent to serve as an officer in the psychological support and rehabilitation group of a military unit.

However, it is worth considering that the responsibilities of this position include organizing psychological assistance for fighters, but do not imply direct participation in hostilities.

Judge Ivan Bandura decided to keep Tandir in custody until June 2, 2024. Let us remind you that the Pechersk court previously decided to keep Tandyr in custody after he hit national guard Vadim Bondarenko with his car.

Witnesses reported that Tandoor was intoxicated, and a half-empty whiskey bottle was found in the judge's car.
