She demanded a bribe for issuing passports: in the Kharkov region, the SBU detained the head of the State Migration Service

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police exposed a corruption scheme in the Main Directorate of the State Migration Service in the Kharkov region; officials demanded bribes for issuing internal and international passports of Ukraine.

The attackers were informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 28 and part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of unlawful benefit by an official, committed as part of a criminal group).

SBU officers detained the organizer of the deal and her accomplices while receiving a new bribe.

It is reported that officials deliberately created artificial obstacles during the registration of internal and international passports of Ukraine and thus received up to half a million hryvnia in bribes every month.

According to the report, the organizer of this scheme was the head of one of the regional departments of the State Administration for VHI. She created a criminal group and attracted five of her subordinates to him, who deliberately complicated the procedure for obtaining documents.

The attackers refused to accept or register citizens in the electronic queue and did not answer government agency contact numbers.

After this, officials offered the victims their “help” in completing the documents. For one passport they asked for about 2 thousand UAH.

They are currently in custody. They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Let us remind you that earlier law enforcement officers detained a deputy of the city council near Kropyvnytskyi on suspicion of organizing a criminal group that, through physical violence and threats, demanded money from businesses.
