Planning to escape to Turkey? The ex-wife of ex-Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmitry Verbitsky, Victoria, purchased an apartment in the resort Alanya with a declared value of almost 4 million hryvnia during their marriage.
However, given the preliminary investigations into the prosecutor’s wealth, the officially announced prices for the Verbitskys’ real estate raise certain doubts. Therefore, the StopCor team went undercover to Turkey to find out all the details.
How much did luxury Turkish real estate cost the Verbitsky spouses? And where does an ex-law enforcement official with a government salary get the funds for such purchases? More details and room tour of the prosecutor’s “nest” in the resort of Alanya
“This investigation should have come out in the summer, when Dmitry Verbitsky was the current Deputy Prosecutor General. But after sensational journalistic revelations, he was fired. The NACP began an investigation and even revealed signs of corruption in criminal proceedings, which indicates the illegal enrichment of the ex-deputy by almost 29 million UAH,” says the journalist.
However, the other day Verbitsky became more active himself. He held an entire press conference to whiten his reputation, where he said that an internal investigation in the Prosecutor General’s Office, as well as an international audit, did not seem to show any violations, and his Turkish apartment was not so expensive.
Let us recall a little background: what is known about the marital status and condition of Dmitry Anatolyevich.
Former Deputy Prosecutor General Dmitry Verbitsky has more than once become the hero of StopCor investigations. In particular, journalists declassified the identity of his mysterious new chosen one with an extraordinary dowry. By the way, Verbitsky himself recently confirmed his connection with Kristina Ilnitskaya.
“Christina and I started dating a few months after I officially separated from my wife,” he claims.
But instead of proving the facts of Ilnitskaya’s real earnings to make her expensive purchases, Dmitry in his interviews masterfully turns attention to his work, although no one questioned his professional traits.
“Everyone who works for the state must be prepared for close public attention. Of course, when it comes to my personal life, I, like any person, find it unpleasant to comment publicly. But all these details appeared in the media for a reason. And as part of a campaign to discredit me, other prosecutors and witnesses in criminal proceedings. Therefore, I am ready to continue this public conversation and defend my reputation. Not only for your own sake, but also to show that putting pressure on the investigation is unacceptable. And such criminal actions will not yield results, except for new criminal proceedings against the defendants,” the ex-prosecutor assures.
What about the state of the official himself?
Also worthy of attention is StopCor’s first investigation into a business center disguised as a residential building in Odessa, purchased by Verbitsky’s ex-wife Victoria at a meager price compared to the market price.
However, the value of not only this property is underestimated, the same can be assumed about the housing rented by Dmitry Anatolyevich in the elite town of Konik, which was purchased by his nephew by proxy. The transaction amount was about three million hryvnia, but on specialized websites such houses are offered at prices up to 450 thousand dollars.
But there are also older real estate cases.
In 2015, Verbitsky’s name appeared in the materials of a court case in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. According to it, Mr. Dmitry was given official housing, because from 2012 to 2013 he served as deputy head of the department in the prosecutor’s office of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
“This is a common practice when a person is not local, but works geographically. But the problem is that even after his release and transfer to another region, Verbitsky did not hand over the temporary apartment back to the prosecutor’s office. And this, despite the apartments available at that time in Ugledar, Shostka and Mariupol - that is, he already had an apartment legacy,” comments Olga Levitskaya.
As a result, he was even sued, as a result of which, as required by law, he was deprived of the right to use this official housing.
The further fate of the plaintiff is also interesting. After all, only Verbitsky received the engine of influence in the General Prosecutor's Office - the representative of the Ivano-Frankivsk Prosecutor's Office, who tried to return the apartment to the state, was, by a strange coincidence, fired. This person is currently engaged in legal practice, and in order not to expose this person to danger, we are not disclosing his name
The attention of our editors was also attracted by the journalistic investigation about Verbitsky in the publication “The Last Bastion”. The author of the article reported the following (we quote):
“The whole country learned that in the spring of 2022, the then deputy head of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and now the deputy prosecutor general and the purse of Prosecutor General Kostin, Dmitry Verbitsky, was sick of the Russian invasion and was thinking of fleeing Ukraine to Turkey.”
The StopCor team decided to check the information and went to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, to Turkey.
It was here, in sunny Alanya, according to our information, that Victoria, the ex-wife of Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmitry Verbitsky, while still married to him, became the owner of an apartment worth almost 4 million hryvnia.
The Oksopia complex, where Victoria probably bought an apartment, is one of the best in the region. It is very clean, there are a lot of different plantings. There is a lot of everything on the territory: underground parking, sports ground, table tennis, even table football, gym, swimming pool, recreation area, magical views from the balconies directly to the sea, located just 50 meters from the residential complex.
And this is all behind a closed fence, the area is equipped with surveillance cameras, security, and only residents of the house have access.
Everything you need is nearby: supermarkets, food establishments. On one side there is the sea, on the other there are mountains and a national park with caves, a river, waterfalls and entertainment for every taste.
“Imagine waking up in a luxury apartment, going out onto the balcony, watching the sunrise, looking at the waves, and breathing in the sea breeze. This is the dream of almost everyone, especially Ukrainians, who have been living in a state of full-scale war for three years now and are in search of a safe corner of the earth. But not every Ukrainian has money to live abroad,” the journalist notes.
Having barely made their way to the site “under cover”, the Stopkorovites were able to film a view of the complex from the inside.
Next, the media people headed to the sales department, of course, having previously come up with a “legend” that they were planning to buy an apartment here: all in order to find out the real real estate prices. In order not to give themselves away, the journalists spoke with the developer’s representative in Russian, because the company does not speak English or Ukrainian.
As journalists discovered, the contingent in the complex is mainly from the aggressor country. But the cost of apartments like the one where Verbitskaya lives starts from 170 thousand euros.
“We remember the figure of 3 million 890 thousand hryvnia and compare it with 170 thousand euros: this is 7 million 300 thousand hryvnia at today’s exchange rate. Of course, the exchange rate has changed during this time, and they could have given a discount, so we ask: how much did the apartments cost at the time of commissioning and is the developer inferior in price,” comments Olga Levitskaya.
However, the developer’s representative claims that the apartments are exactly according to the price.
During this conversation, the journalists were able to agree to inspect the 1+1 apartment, like Verbitsky’s ex-wife, and when they came a second time, they decided to ask about the Ukrainians who live here. The developer's representative assured that she personally knows each resident. apartment where Odessa residents live.
“Those Victoria and Alexander from Odessa, when the war began, they came, bought and stopped. They live on their own,” she says.
That is, Victoria really bought an apartment after the start of the war, but... at the price of two such dwellings.
“So many coincidences: Victoria is from Odessa (the only Odessa resident our interlocutor knows), and she bought an apartment after the start of the war, and even 1+1 - and this is 65 square meters, just like in her declaration. So now let’s see what kind of property such as this could cost 250 thousand,” the investigator notes.
This is just an example of renovated apartments. The layout in all apartments of this quadrature is identical, so this is approximately what Verbitskaya’s home looks like, a combined kitchen with a living room, sofas and a spacious bedroom.
So where does the money come from?
As it turned out, several months before the purchase of the above-mentioned property, Dmitry’s mother, Valentina Verbitskaya, provided Victoria with a loan of 133 thousand dollars, which, at the then exchange rate, was enough to purchase an apartment at the declared price. Where another 117 thousand came from is officially unknown. Note that Valentina Andreevna is now 73 years old. I wonder where the pensioner found almost 4 million UAH? And the house at the place of her registration does not at all resemble the home of a millionaire.
So this whole story is another reason for inspections by the authorities monitoring the property status of Dmitry Verbitsky. After all, 130 thousand dollars and 250 are completely different amounts, and their origin should also be investigated.
Let us remind you that at the beginning of the summer, the capital’s official Dmitry Verbitsky was noticed in one of the most expensive salons in Kyiv in the company of his new chosen one, where the man was getting a manicure. The probable lover of the ex-prosecutor, Kristina Ilnitskaya, as StopCor learned, owns a significant fortune.
And at the height of the war, she allegedly managed to purchase a luxurious country estate in the elite cottage town of Konik for only 2.1 million hryvnia, while such real estate can cost up to 50 million hryvnia.
