They supplied the Ukrainian Armed Forces with low-quality clothing, caused damage to the state worth UAH 1 billion, which angered Ukrainian society. On January 22, in Odessa, while attempting to cross the border, law enforcement officers detained the fifth member of the criminal organization - the odious Roman Grinkevich.
This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andrey Kostin.
According to the prosecutor's office, on January 22, at 6:50 in Odessa, while attempting to leave Ukraine, law enforcement officers detained the fifth member of a criminal organization that supplied low-quality clothing to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Despite the fact that Kostin did not name the name, we are talking about Roman Grinkevich.
As the investigation notes, the defendant left for Odessa on approximately January 17 and was preparing to cross the state border to leave the country. Thus, at the request of prosecutors, already on January 19, the court granted permission to detain Roman Grinkevich.
As the Prosecutor General of Ukraine notes, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the attacker is being decided. It is noteworthy that four other suspects are already in custody.
It should be noted that the beneficiary of the three enterprises created a criminal organization whose goal was to seize budget funds. Thus, the defendants in the case entered into agreements with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the provision of military clothing for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, after conducting relevant examinations, it became known that the attackers supplied low-quality clothing, and the state, represented by the Ministry of Defense, suffered damage amounting to more than UAH 934 million.
“All participants were informed of suspicion of creating a criminal organization and participation in it, as well as fraud committed under martial law on an especially large scale (part 1,2 of Article 255, part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” – say the law enforcement officers.
It should be added that the State Bureau of Investigation published a video of the arrest of Roman Grinkevich. The released footage shows the controversial businessman lying face down on the floor, holding his hands behind his head. At the request of law enforcement officers, he gave his first and last name, as well as his date of birth.
