Ukrainian ministries can significantly reduce

Already this spring, the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine may undergo significant changes. Such changes are motivated by a possible decision by the president about the need to save public funds.

This was reported by the publication NV, citing its own sources in the Office of the President and the Servant of the People party.

The publication writes that we are talking about the dissolution of 5 ministries out of 19 currently existing. But, according to journalists, no working groups have yet been assembled outside the government.

“Some of the functions of the reduced ministries will be transferred, according to NV, to the management of the Prime Minister’s office - to the so-called Center of Government. But despite the rumors, the president does not yet plan to change Shmygal himself. After all, as one of Bankova’s representatives explained to NV on condition of anonymity, the prime minister suits everyone. And now it will be further enhanced with additional functions,” the publication writes.

Journalists note that Denis Shmigal himself has not yet accumulated so much negativity that the president decided to fire him. Although it should be noted that the Ukrainian information space has been talking about replacing prime ministers for quite some time. Some experts even pointed to specific names of people who could replace Shmygal in office. For the most part, Yulia Sviridenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, as well as Alexey Chernyshev, CEO of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, were named as likely candidates.

“According to the editors’ information, first of all, what can ministries go under that do not have appointed leaders, or those whose functions are actually capable of being performed by other departments. First of all, we are talking about merging “social” ministries, NV sources explained,” the journalists note.

People's deputy from the Golos faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak has already commented on this news in his Telegram channel. He noted that cutting ministries is not so simple, since the state spends a year on legal support for such decisions:

“To understand: a “downsizing” of a ministry is simply when almost all the employees of one ministry move to the staff of another, and then we spend another year of time on legal support for such a reduction. One of the most recent examples: the merger of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Regional Development.”

Previously they wrote that, despite constant personnel changes in the Ukrainian government, Denis Shmygal is not yet at risk of resignation. It currently takes four years, longer than the average length of service for prime ministers.
