Background:

  • In September, the Security Service reported in absentia a suspicion of Friedman as being involved in financing the war against Ukraine.
  • As the SBU stated, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, it has “poured” about 2 billion rubles into several military factories of the aggressor country. Among them are the Tula Cartridge Plant, which produces cartridges, as well as the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant named after Yalamov, which produces high-tech equipment for combat aircraft and helicopters of the Russian Federation.
  • Before this UPAshla Friedman in London.

    Background:

    • President Vladimir Zelensky on July 5 put into effect a decision of the National Security and Defense Council on July 5 to impose sanctions against 18 companies associated with Russian oligarchs Mikhail Fridman , German Khan and Petr Aven.
    • In August 2022, Russian oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven found themselves under sanctions by the United States of America .
    • Fridman and Aven left Russia after the start of the war in Ukraine. However, they found themselves under EU and UK sanctions.
    • They tried to get sanctions lifted in Europe. And they succeeded in this in the UK, where the authorities issued at least 82 licenses to sanctioned Russian oligarchs “for personal expenses” - up to $1 million a year, which Russians spend on “basic needs” - drivers, cooks and maids.
