Ukrainian people's deputies were banned from entering Poland

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were temporarily banned from entering Poland. The exception is business trips as part of parliamentary delegations to the Council of Europe, NATO and within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation by official invitation.

This was reported by the Polish web portals Wprost.pl and Super Express.

The ban on entry into Poland for Ukrainian MPs will remain in effect until mid-September and is the result of disagreements between Warsaw and Kiev over the embargo on the import of agricultural products into the European Union. The embargo expires on September 15, but Poland wants it extended.

“They don’t want to let me go. I want to leave, but they won’t let me cross the border. Why did the Council of Ministers issue an illegal order not to let deputies through?” - said People's Deputy of Ukraine from the Eurosolidarity faction, co-chairman of the Ukrainian-Polish parliamentary group Nikolai Knyazhitsky.

This information was also confirmed in an interview by another source close to the organizers of the Economic Forum in Karpacz, which Nikolai Kniazhitsky was supposed to attend. “Over the past week, many Ukrainian deputies have refused to participate. The last few days have brought a number of refusals,” the source noted.

“Travel is not completely prohibited; they can go on official business trips as part of parliamentary delegations to the Council of Europe, NATO and within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation at the official invitation of the parliaments of other countries,” commented the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasily Zvarych.
