In Chernigov, billions are flowing away like water: what does interim mayor Alexander Lomako have to do with this?

Chernigov is once again unsettled - this time the city council is at the center of the scandal, where more than a dozen criminal cases have been launched in connection with the possible theft of budget funds.

The State Audit Service of Ukraine estimated that as a result of the violations found, the city budget is missing billions of hryvnia.

The scandal began at an extraordinary session of the Chernihiv City Council, where deputy Marina Semenenko raised an important topic, such as the theft of communal property and the need for an audit by the State Audit Service.

However, her speech was constantly interrupted, not allowing her to say a word, and the question remained ignored by officials. At the end, the voting results were greeted with cries of “Shame!”

It is unclear where more than 2 billion budget hryvnia disappeared, and why such tension arose in the City Council.

There are suggestions that the actual expenses of interim mayor Alexander Lomako do not coincide with his official salary. According to journalists, his opinion about the auditors' report is that it is a manipulation aimed at discrediting the work of the city authorities.

Media workers did not receive clear answers from Lomako regarding resistance to the State Audit Service and attitudes towards possible budget violations.

Instead of answers, the mayor limited himself to a statement that such open cases will not lead to anything and will only create a negative impression among the people.

At the moment, criminal proceedings are developing; suspicions of official negligence with losses of 8 million hryvnia have already been brought to the head of the housing and communal services department Yaroslav Kuts and the director of the public utility company “Parking and Market” Nikolai Gogol.
