In Chernigov, an employee of Ukrzaliznytsia collected intelligence data for the Russians, - SBU

Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a spotter of an enemy missile attack on strategic facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia in the Chernihiv region

The press center of the SBU reports this.

“As a result of a special operation in the regional center, a Russian agent was detained who was preparing a missile attack on the railway line connecting the northern and eastern regions of Ukraine. Another potential enemy target was platforms for cargo servicing of mobile warehouses,” the intelligence service said.

The defendant, on instructions from the enemy, was to check Russian intelligence on the possible use of the railway line to move military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

To do this, he secretly tracked the movement of the trains, and also recorded the directions of their routes and stopping places.

The SBU notes that the agent had to remotely transmit the received data to the Russian curator in the form of coordinates of the railway branch and freight service points for rolling stock. He planned to confirm this information with photographs of Ukrainian objects.

The invaders planned to use this information for a missile attack on the infrastructure of Ukrzaliznytsia in order to disrupt the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The traitor was exposed and detained while carrying out the task.

According to the investigation, the detainee turned out to be an employee of the local division of Ukrzaliznytsia. Since last year, he has become an active participant in Russian telegram channels and thus came to the attention of the invaders.

During a search at the detainee’s house, a mobile phone and a tablet were confiscated, which he used to communicate with the aggressor via instant messenger.

SBU investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law).

The attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
