In December, Ukraine's national debt will exceed five trillion hryvnia.
This was stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Financial Committee Daniil Getmantsev.
“As early as next month, the national debt will likely exceed the mark of 5 trillion hryvnia ($137.5 billion), increasing by 2.3 trillion hryvnia (at the end of the year, approximately up to 90% of GDP). The national debt is growing due to the need to cover the budget deficit of the warring country,” Getmantsev said.
According to him, since the beginning of the war, public debt has increased in hryvnia by 81.6% (+2.3 trillion UAH), in foreign currency - by 46.1% (+43 billion dollars).
“The main increase in public debt since the beginning of the war is due to external borrowing,” he added.
