A former official of the Ministry of Energy who worked for the Russian FSB was detained in Kyiv

The SBU detained an official in Kyiv who was an agent of the FSB and proposed to annex the eastern regions of Ukraine to the Rostov region of Russia.

The press service of the SBU reported this

The agent turned out to be a former Ukrainian official who had worked in previous years at the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, the State Committee for Reserves and the Ministry of Coal Industry.

After leaving government service in 2014, he began to position himself as a “political expert” and the author of publications in which he praised the Kremlin’s aggressive policy towards Ukraine.

From that time on, he was in direct contact with one of the leaders of the 5th service of the FSB, who coordinated his information and subversive activities against Ukraine.

The Russian agent also collaborated with the terrorist Pasechnik, to whom he provided “expert” recommendations on intensifying repression against Ukrainian patriots in temporarily occupied Lugansk.

In addition, the defendant published messages on social networks in which he proposed to “annex” the eastern regions of Ukraine to the Rostov region.

SBU counterintelligence officers documented the facts of the Russian agent’s criminal activities and detained him in his own home.

A comprehensive forensic psychological and linguistic examination confirmed that the documentary materials prepared by the defendant at the request of the FSB are directed against the state security of Ukraine.

During searches in the traitor's house and cars, computer equipment, mobile phones and documents confirming his subversive activities in favor of Russia were confiscated.

In addition, the defendant was found to have a “reward for interaction” from representatives of the aggressor state, as well as prohibited communist and pro-Kremlin symbols.

Based on the evidence received, Security Service investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • h. 1 tbsp. 111
  • h. 1 tbsp. 161

A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for him. The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison.

Let us remind you that the Security Service, in cooperation and with the assistance of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, eliminated a corrupt scheme for the purchase of ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for almost 1.5 billion UAH.
