Suspicion was reported to an official of one of the departments of the State Service for Emergency Situations due to the waste of inventory items (Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This information was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
According to the prosecution, the suspect, as the head of the State Emergency Service unit, unreasonably issued an order to write off tablets and mobile phones whose service life had already expired.
After this, he entered into an agreement to transfer this written-off property to a private enterprise that planned to sell it.
“As a result of the unjustified write-off and transfer of this equipment, the state suffered damage totaling almost 500 thousand hryvnia,” the prosecutor’s office noted.
At the moment, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The sanction of the incriminated article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
