In Kyiv, the State Bureau of Investigation detained a prosecutor

He is suspected of embezzling millions of hryvnias, which were material evidence

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported the suspicion to the prosecutor of one of the district prosecutor's offices in Kyiv. He embezzled millions of money seized during investigative actions.

The Bureau's press service reports this.

In August 2023, the prosecutor supervised criminal proceedings against a private enterprise. During the searches, he seized 4 million 242 thousand in various currencies in hryvnia equivalent from the businessman.

However, instead of transferring the money for proper storage, the prosecutor took it for himself.

After that, he stopped going to work and did not appear at the address indicated as his actual place of residence.

The defendant is suspected of abuse of official position by taking possession of someone else's property on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years.

A preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of a personal obligation.
