In Kyiv, a bank employee stole and carried away $400,000

In Kyiv, a bank employee stole 400 thousand dollars from a financial institution. The criminal hid the money in a backpack and took it out. He faces 12 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.

It is indicated that the Kyiv police received a message from the security guards of one of the capital's financial institutions that they had discovered a shortage of a large amount of money. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and found out that a 22-year-old employee of the same bank was involved in the disappearance.

During the next accounting procedure, a bank employee took advantage of the moment and hid four bags of cash in his backpack and went out for his lunch break. Later that same day, during the recount, other employees of the institution discovered a deficiency of about 400 thousand dollars (16 million hryvnia).

The attacker was detained and he was informed of the suspicion of misappropriation of property by a person abusing his official position on an especially large scale.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure for a bank employee is being decided. The offender faces up to twelve years in prison.

“The investigation continues, the police are establishing the location of the stolen funds,” the press service indicated.
