In the Kirovograd region, the commander of a military unit came under suspicion due to official negligence. The commander’s negligence, discovered by the DBI and the SBU, led to damage to the state of almost 12 million UAH due to overpayments on purchases.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation on Telegram.
Employees of the DBI, in cooperation with the SBU, reported suspicion to the commander of one of the military units in the Kirovograd region.
It was established that during the procurement announced by the military unit, applications were submitted from three participants. Then the winner was the offer from a private enterprise at the lowest price.
“However, after concluding the contracts, entrepreneurs artificially inflated the cost of products in the documents. The official of the military unit did not check the change in the amount in the contract. Thus, the total amount of damage to the state reached almost 12 million UAH,” the statement says.
Currently, the official has been informed of suspicion of negligent attitude towards military service, which entailed grave consequences, committed under martial law (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. The pre-trial investigation continues, and measures are being taken to compensate for the damage caused to the state. The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to 8 years in prison.
