In the Kyiv metro on the “blue” line, the “Heroes of Dnepra” station may be closed

The Kyiv City Council will hold an on-site meeting to examine the most problematic areas of the metro.

In the Kyiv metro on the “blue” line, the “Heroes of the Dnepra” station may be closed due to the problem of tunnels and the station itself, where groundwater leaks periodically occur from the walls and ceiling.

The head of the Union of Utility Services Consumers of Ukraine Oleg Popenko spoke about this.

“These are already massive requests from people about the state of the metro in Kyiv, and many have already written to me that on the metro station. “Heroes of the Dnieper” water flows through the walls. And not only at this station. We, as consumers, and you, as the media, must demand from the Kyiv City State Administration and the Kyiv Metro Municipal Enterprise to conduct a technical audit of the report to Kiev residents on the technical condition of the metro - after all, you need to know whether it is safe to be in the subway at all,” Popenko emphasized.

Problems at the “Heroes of Dnepra” metro station appeared shortly after the “Oasis” shopping center was built above it. In particular, since February 2019, passengers have periodically posted photos of leaks online.

According to the publication, next Friday, February 23, the Kyiv City Council is convening an off-site meeting of the commission to inspect the most problematic areas of the metro.

Thus, Kyiv City Council deputy and head of the budget commission Andrey Vitrenko speaks about the intentions of the deputies to hold an offsite meeting. According to him, the Oasis shopping center above the Heroiv Dnepra station was indeed built in violation of the norms.

Among the objects that are definitely planned to be checked are the Taras Shevchenko, Pochayna and Heroiv Dnepra stations.

“The main problem pressing at the metro stations of the shallow blue line (5-8 meters) is chaotic development. High-rise buildings were erected on the “red lines”, and they deform the walls of the metro tunnels. We know about seven very problematic areas,” Vitrenko said during the telethon.

Let us remind you that metro traffic, in particular on the damaged section of the blue line between the Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya stations, must be resumed by the end of this summer. Agreements to carry out restoration work have already been signed.
