White House spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing that Russia launched ballistic missiles into Ukraine received from North Korea.
– On December 29, 2023, Russian forces launched at least one North Korean ballistic missile at Ukraine. Apparently, she ended up in an open field in the Zaporozhye region. On January 2, 2024, Russia launched a series of North Korean missiles at Ukraine, the consequences of which are still being assessed. These North Korean missiles are capable of hitting targets at a distance of approximately 900 km. This is a significant increase in North Korean support for Russia, which is concerning,” Kirby said.
According to the White House, in exchange for ballistic missiles, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un wants to receive fighter jets, surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles, ballistic missile production facilities and access to leading military technologies from Russia.
Kirby also said that Iran has not supplied the Russian Federation with short-range ballistic missiles, but Russia is trying to acquire them.
