Around 15,000 people were arrested in Sri Lanka as part of a week-long anti-drugs operation.
The BBC reports this.
As noted, during the raids, law enforcement officers seized almost 440 kilograms of narcotic substances, in particular heroin. 13,666 suspected drug traffickers were detained, and more than a thousand drug addicts were forcibly sent for treatment to an army center.
The operation was suspended over Christmas but will resume after the holidays.
