A group of FSB representatives advocates for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to fire Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Bloomberg writes about this.
As two anonymous interlocutors of the publication said, a number of FSB representatives who took a more aggressive position supported the demands of the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who insisted on changing the country’s top military leadership.
Five more Bloomberg sources add that supporters of the so-called hawkish position want to start fighting more aggressively in Ukraine. They propose to declare martial law in the Russian Federation and carry out full-scale mobilization.
However, according to the publication, there are “no signs” that the Kremlin is going to remove Shoigu and Gerasimov from their posts. The political leadership is cracking down on those who actively criticize Shoigu and Gerasimov.
The media recalls the cases of arrested terrorist Igor Girkin and Colonel General Sergei Surovikin. The first is now behind bars on charges of extremism, while the second was interrogated and disappeared from public view.
