Former adviser to the Office of the President Alexei Arestovich may have been the source of information for journalist Simon Schuster in his scandalous article about Ukraine published in Time magazine.
The Ukrainian publication Oboz.ua writes about this, citing its own sources in law enforcement agencies.
An article in the American edition of Time attracted wide public attention, since the author actually criticizes the situation in Ukraine, claims “war fatigue,” and also portrays President Vladimir Zelensky in a negative light.
According to Oboz.ua, the former adviser to the OP may now be abroad. In particular, he was allegedly seen in Warsaw (Poland) and Vienna (Austria). Arestovich could communicate with Simon Schuster on condition of anonymity. His opinion was eventually presented as information “from the Office of the President of Ukraine.”
Simon Schuster is an American journalist and graduate of Stanford University. Born in Moscow. He has been working as a correspondent for Time for 10 years and collaborating with the Associated Press. Previously wrote for Reuters and The Moscow Times. Lives in New York (USA), but now spends a lot of time in Kyiv.
Journalist Daria Girna noted on her Facebook page that Simon Shuster is the author of manipulative material about Azov. In particular, the journalist, in his article from 2019, accused the organization of recruiting far-right nationalists around the world.
What we know about Simon Schuster's Time article
The publication's material stated that in early October, the political leadership in Kyiv allegedly demanded that military leaders carry out an operation to liberate Gorlovka, a strategic outpost of the Russian occupiers in the Donbass, which they have held for almost 10 years.
Also in the Time article, it was said that assistants to Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Zelensky said that even before winter, “serious” changes in Ukraine’s military strategy should supposedly be expected.
At the same time, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky himself noted in an interview with the publication that he is categorically against even a temporary truce with the aggressor country Russia.
Advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, Mikhail Podolyak, said that Simon Schuster’s opinion is completely subjective, and the sources indicated in the material probably do not have access to the information.
