The capital’s metro is preparing to close the Pochayna and Taras Shevchenko stations

Several Kyiv metro stations are again under threat of closure. Thus, information appeared on the network that on the “blue” line they are preparing to close the Pochayna and Taras Shevchenko stations. Due to the heavy load, Poshtova Ploshchad may also be mothballed.

This was reported by Kommersant, citing its own source in the Kyiv City State Administration.

Considering the heavy workload and the serious need for repair work, the closure of “Pochaynaya” and “Taras Shevchenko” is inevitable, the publication’s interlocutor says. However, for now the issue of closing Poshtovaya Ploshchad is still being considered at the level of expert discussion.

“They need to be repaired not because of wear and tear and, accordingly, the need for scheduled maintenance, but also because of cracks and moisture penetration. Soil water, precipitation, and resulting destruction are actually problems not only of these two stations. The problems are the same as those at the metro stations on Teremki, but so far on a smaller scale,” summed up the representative of the Kyiv city administration.

The Kiev Metro itself also confirms that the “blue line” stations are indeed included in the list of facilities that are being prepared for planned repairs. True, they do not give exact dates when the station will be closed and how long this repair will last.

According to preliminary information, we are talking about the repair of sections of tunnels along the first main route “Pochayna” and “Taras Shevchenko”.
