A new political party has emerged in the UK called The Other Party, which aims to bring direct democracy to the country using blockchain technology. As part of this initiative, the party proposes to introduce “governance passports” to ensure citizen participation in the law-making process.
A new political bloc has emerged in the UK - The Other Party. He announced his intention to bring direct democracy to the country based on blockchain technologies.
Representatives of the organization believe that the British system of government needs to be restarted. The basis for a new political basis should be decentralization and direct democracy, according to the leadership of The Orther Party.
We are talking about a structure of society in which the main decisions are initiated, adopted and executed directly by citizens. The new organization believes that blockchain technologies will make it possible to bring the direct democracy model to life.
“Our mission is to remove the centralized power of politicians and put it back in the hands of the people. Using blockchain technology, we ensure that every voice is heard, every vote is counted, and every decision is transparent and incorruptible,” said The Other Party founder Dom Ryder.
Among the initiatives of the political movement is the introduction of a “management passport”. Representatives of the organization describe them as special NFTs that will be used to identify a user online.
According to members of The Other Party, “governance passports” will guarantee a person’s right to participate in the electoral process while maintaining anonymity. This way, NFT owners will be able to directly influence government policy.
In parallel with the official registration of The Other Party, the organization issued a commemorative Proof of Donation (POD) token. It is built on Ethereum and is available for purchase through the decentralized exchange Uniswap.
Representatives of The Other Party noted that the fixed volume of POD supply is 3.5 trillion. According to members of the organization, this number of tokens is a reference to the total number of pounds sterling that are in circulation.
The Other Party is still not on the official list of political parties in the UK, but a link to the register is posted on the organization's website.
