Andriy Gerus, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities Services, stressed that Ukraine is ready for the onset of winter. He noted that work is currently underway to provide light and heat.

Winter in Ukraine

“European traders are actively using our underground storage facilities to store gas - this is the energy security of the European Union countries in winter. If necessary, we will have the opportunity to import gas from European countries. But this year we rely on Ukrainian gas production, which should provide us with gas this winter ,” Gerus said.

According to him, there was a surplus in the country in the fall and summer. As a result, electricity was exported, from which we managed to make money. Gerus emphasized that shortages could potentially arise in winter, then Ukraine would be able to import electricity from the European Union to balance its energy systems and fully meet consumption as well as demand.

“There also remains the risk of enemy attacks on the power grid. European partners helped us in this matter by significantly improving air defense ,” he added.

Let us remind you that the situation in the Ukrainian energy system remains difficult. a sharp increase in consumption was recorded .
