50 tons of circuit boards contained significant quantities of precious metals, weighing tens of kilograms.
During an audit of one of the military units of the Zhytomyr region, the Ministry of Defense exposed and prevented the loss of microcircuits containing gold, silver and platinum. In general, it was possible to prevent the loss of boards worth more than UAH 65 million, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported on Thursday, November 30.
Blocks with microcircuits were found in garages on the territory of a military unit. According to passport data, approximately 50 tons of unaccounted for circuit boards were stored there.
“During the audit, it was established that these fees were not registered with the military unit. Although one of the unit’s tasks was to store this property. The circumstances of how the precious property disappeared from the register and why it remained unaccounted for are being established. The found precious coins (property) are again registered. The estimated cost is UAH 65.66 million,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported.
50 tons of microcircuits approximately contain the following amount of precious metals:
28 kg of gold;
60 kg of silver;
590 g of platinum group metals.
The results of the audit will be transferred to law enforcement officers to provide legal qualifications for the actions of the command of the military unit. The issue of announcing suspicion to the unit commander is being decided.
