In the spotlight

While working on errors with taxes, an army accountant transferred UAH 20 million to his wife

In the Kyiv region, the head of the financial and economic service of one of the military units was served with suspicion for the groundless accrual of 20 million hryvnia to his wife, who also serves in this unit, reports Crime.net.

The accountant tried to “cover up his tracks” of his negligent attitude towards the finances of the unit before the command of the troops. To do this, he submitted false information about the accrual of 20 million hryvnia of additional compensation to his wife, the senior soldier of this unit.

He did not plan to actually pay this money to the senior soldier, but was going to cover the debt on personal income tax that had arisen due to his negligence. However, he again “failed to cope with the task”, did not track it and the money actually went to his wife’s card.

Now all the money has been returned to the military unit, and the head of the financial and economic service - the chief accountant of the military unit was informed of suspicion of deliberate failure to fulfill his official duties under martial law (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
