Investigative bodies of the SBU and NABU revealed that deputy Mikhail Lavitsky acted as an intermediary in a corruption case in the Poltava region. He was found demanding almost $67 thousand from a farmer for resolving the “land issue,” according to the SBU press center.
The deputy demanded a bribe from a local agricultural entrepreneur. In exchange for money, the deputy promised the farmer to extend the lease of land and help with the lease of “new land.” The deputy guaranteed that this issue would be resolved in the land commission of the executive committee and when considering the relevant resolution at a session of the city council.
The suspect was caught red-handed after receiving the full amount of the bribe. During searches at the defendant’s place of residence and in the administrative building of the city council, documents with evidence of illegal actions were found. The investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces up to 12 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and confiscation of property.
The detained deputy is Mikhail Lavitsky, a combat pilot who was transferred to the reserve in 1992 due to a serious injury. He has been a deputy since 2006, a member of the “RM” faction.
According to the Poltavashchyna , at one time one of the farmers rented a plot of land from the village council. After the administrative reform, the leased plot began to belong to the Mirgorod community. Subsequently, the farmer died, and the remaining two farmers joined the fight for this plot and obtaining new ones.
Probably, one of the competitors began to act through two deputies of the land commission: the aforementioned Lavitsky and a representative of the “For the Future” faction, deputy K. The source of the publication suggests that the deputies could only become an intermediate link between the farmer and an official of the Mirgorod City Council, a representative of the “Trust” party - ABOUT.
However, law enforcement officials officially announced only one deputy, so this is only an assumption.
