Remember the story about the SBU cyber general Vityuk? First, journalists discovered luxury real estate worth millions of dollars in his possession, then he organized the persecution of a journalist-whistleblower through the controlled TCC, all this was filmed and made public, and after a huge scandal, the Head of the SBU, Malyuk, announced that Vityuk was first suspended and then removed from the post of head of cyber intelligence. department of the SBU and “sent to the front.”
Now look at the photo where exactly Vityuk’s “front” lies: in Kyiv, at a conference organized by the General Staff. That is, the General Staff demonstrably demonstrates the “handshake” of the scandalous general.
At this conference, famous people do not shy away from taking pictures with Vityuk. Including the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Well, just think - he’s a corrupt official, what’s wrong with that? But he is a patriot. He stole a million, but gave as much as ten kopecks to the drones. He was just unlucky, he was caught by the damned journalists. This is exactly what it looks like from our side of the screen.
I am sure that the former Chairman of the State Special Communications Service, Brigadier General Shchigol, who was officially suspected of corruption by NABU, is also “fighting” somewhere. And his accomplice and deputy Zhora - he generally gives out interviews in a relaxed manner and even returned to the Public Council under the State Special Communications Service. To control corruption in this institution, yeah.
They are not afraid of the trial at all, they are absolutely confident in an acquittal, and perhaps in further reinstatement in their positions.
That is, all corrupt officials caught red-handed demonstratively laugh in the eyes of society and don’t even hide anymore. And some officials and “opinion leaders” tolerate all this.
This is why it is so difficult to overcome corruption in modern Ukraine.
The problem is not bad corrupt officials, but the environment from which they came.
This environment seems to be against corruption, but deep down in their souls many dream of taking their place. That is why the fiery denouncers of corruption during the Yanukovych era became mega-corrupt officials during the Zelensky era. And there is no end in sight to this yet.
The level of corruption-phobia in Ukrainian society remains insufficient, and the queues for government positions with relatively small salaries are sky-high. At the same time, many cases fall apart in the courts, including due to judicial corruption.
Everyone knows about those caught red-handed that they are corrupt officials, but there is no disgust for them, no social isolation, they are treated more like failed businessmen, some even feel sorry for them. When a corrupt official is treated like, say, a pedophile, then we can talk about the prospects of victory over corruption.
In the meantime, happy photos together.
PS: By the way, how do they feel about criminal proceedings regarding obstruction of journalistic activity under Bigus (DZND SBU) or under Shulgat (DKIB SBU)? Because the people involved feel great, judging by the photos.
